Lots of countries have partially or completely reopened, but many of them are not open for Americans due to the high rates of infection in the U.S.
Even when they take American tourists, there are a number of restrictions and regulations travelers need to be aware of. Covid-19 PCR tests or mandatory quarantines are among the most popular.
Here is a complete list of some most popular destinations open to Americans.
Test or quarantine not required!
Albania was one of the first countries that started reopening its borders already on July 1st
At the moment there are no tests required and also no need to stay in the quarantine, only health and temperature checks at the airport.
As of today, only essential travelers visiting from Great Britain must undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine. Although, flights from the U.K. remain banned.
This British overseas territory in the Caribbean is open to visitors from all countries, including the U.S. Quarantine is mandatory for all arrivals and it can go from 10 to 14 days depending on the epidemiologic situation in the territory they come from. (Source)
Travelers interested in this destination will need to request authorization to travel to the country. In addition, they will need to present proof of a negative PCR test taken in the 3-5 days prior to their arrival.
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
All arrivals by air must have a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test result within 7 days of departure from their point of origin.
Children under 12 are exempt. Visitors arriving by sea will be quarantined. All travelers will be assessed by the Port Health Authorities and will continue to be monitored for up to 14 day
Aruba is currently allowing tourists from Canada, Europe, the US, most of the Caribbean, plus, all Central American and South American countries (excluding Venezuela & Peru).
On January 25, the Aruba Government closed its borders with Brazil until further notice.
All visitors must undergo a molecular SARS-CoV-2 test before entering the country.
Travelers should upload their negative COVID-19 PCR test results to their online ED card prior to travel. Check it here.
Travelers who do not provide a negative COVID-19 PCR prior to arrival must test upon arrival at the airport and isolate in their hotel until they receive a negative test result
The Bahamas is open for American tourists since July with a couple of entry restrictions. All visitors must submit a Travel Health Visa Application and wait for approval.
Travelers to the Bahamas also need to have a negative PCR COVID test in order to be able to board a plane. The test must be taken no longer than 72 hours before the flight.
The Bahamas only reports 10-20 cases per day. Despite this, the CDC organization doesn’t recommend any travel to the Bahamas and the current warning is at level 3, which means that the risk of getting or spreading COVID is high. (Source: CDC.gov – Bahamas Warning Level 3)
Barbados requires travelers from all countries to submit a Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to boarding.
They must also fill out an Embarkation/Disembarkation form 24 hours before departure. Those who do not present the test may be denied entry.
All visitors coming to Bermuda must take and pass a PCR Covid-19 test within 72 hours of their departure.
Residents do not require a negative COVID-19 test to enter Bermuda, but they must quarantine for 8 days after arrival. As of today, they will be required to wear a quarantine bracelet at a cost of $300 on arrival. The bracelet pairs with a phone app.
If a resident does not want to download the app on their phones they will have to also need to buy a new phone on arrival.
Since Dec. 4, all travelers visiting Bermuda from the U.K. or who have visited the U.K. within the last 14 days, must undergo a 4-day quarantine in their accommodation.
In order to be granted entry to Brazil, both national and foreign visitors are required to present a negative (RT-PCR) test result taken no more than 72 hours before arrival.
While Brazil is currently open for Americans and others who arrive by air, those who wish to arrive by land or sea will have to wait for an indefinite period.
All those arriving in Brazil are required to have travel health insurance that will cover any medical treatment they might require while in the country. Quarantine is not required.

This South American nation is currently allowing American visitors, along with almost every other traveler. Travelers will need to bring a negative PCR COVID-19 result of a test taken in the 72 hours prior to their arrival, they will also need to quarantine for 10 days.
UK flights and U.S. travelers who have been to the U.K. in the 14 days prior to their arrival in Chile have been banned from entering the country.
Test or quarantine not required! Colombia reopened the border to tourists from all countries with a few restrictions to follow.
The Colombian government has changed the entry restrictions and PCR testing is no longer required for visitors from ALL countries. A tracking app and a health form are still required!All visitors must provide a negative COVID test before boarding the flight to Colombia, fill out Check-Mig form, and download the CoronAPP and keep monitoring their health after arrival.
